Two further men charged over shooting - Nowra

Two further men have been charged after a shooting in Nowra in February.

About 2am, Sunday 26 February 2012, police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to a caravan park on Pleasant Way following reports of a shooting.

It is believed a 30-year-old man was inside his caravan when he was shot a number of times before his attacker fled the scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Shoalhaven Hospital suffering a gun shot wound to his body.

Detective’s yesterday (Thursday 31 May, 2012) arrested a 46-year-old Nowra man and today (Friday 1 June, 2012) arrested a 36-year man also from Nowra. The men were each charged with conceal serious indictable offence and shoot with intent to murder (accessory before the fact).

Both men have been granted bail and are expected to appear in Nowra Local Court on 25 June, 2012.

This is the third person to be arrested in relation to this matter. A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning (Thursday 31 May 2012), at a Tomerong address and charged with shoot with intent to murder and use unauthorised prohibited firearm.

Ulladulla man charged with Malicious wounding at Ulladulla Party.  

About 1.30am on Saturday the 12th of November 2011 it is alleged that a 21yo male from Ulladulla attended a party in Deering Street, Ulladulla with a group of friends.  These people were not invited to the party, and subsequently a confrontation occurred between the 21yo and another 20yo party goer.  This confrontation resulted in the 21yo offender, producing a knife and cutting the face of male 20year old victim. The male victim has then fallen to the ground where it is alleged that the offender has punched and kicked him several times. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a laceration to his face and was conveyed to Hospital by Ambulance.  After investigations by Nowra Detectives, a 21yo male was arrested and charged with malicious Wounding,  Break and  enter a dwelling with intent to commit a serious indictable offence. The 21yo male was bailed refused and appeared before Nowra bail Court this morning the 13 November 2011 where he was remanded in custody.  He will re-appear before Nowra Local Court later this week.

Weekend Police News

About 4.45pm on Saturday 22/10/11 a 27 year old male was stopped by Police from the Ulladulla Highway Patrol in Bawley Point after he was detected travelling over the speed limit. Police stopped the motorist who was not wearing a seatbelt. When spoken to by police they could smell intoxicating liquor on his breath. He was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading. The male was arrested and conveyed to the Ulladulla Police Station where police made observations of his intoxication. As a result of those observations the driver was charged with the offences of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Exceeding the Speed Limit and Not Wearing a Seat Belt. He was served with legal process to appear in the Milton Local Court for the offences.

Multiple Ulladulla Drink Drivers Arrested

For the second week in a row Shoalhaven Police are noticing an increase in Alcohol Related Driving Offences within the Command. Examples of this reckless behaviour by motorists include.

About 3.20pm on Friday 5/8/11 a 56 year old Ulladulla woman attended the Ulladulla Police Station to make a report to Police about another matter. Officers noted alcohol on her breath at the time she was in the station, but were surprised to see her conclude her business then leave the station and drive off in a motor vehicle. She was followed and stopped a short distance away where a breath test proved positive. The woman was placed under arrest and returned to the Ulladulla Station where a breath analysis recording a reading of 0.090. The woman will appear in the Milton Local Court on 1/9/11 to answer a charge of Drive with Mid Range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol. Her license has also been suspended.

Around the same time that day another 52 year old Ulladulla woman was very fortunate after she was stopped for RBT on the Princes Hwy at Ulladulla. The woman returned a positive breath test and was arrested and taken to the Ulladulla station. A subsequent breath analysis revealed a reading of 0.046 which is just under her 0.050 limit being a full license holder. The woman was then released without charge.

Man charged over high-speed police pursuit - Shoalhaven

A man has been charged after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit on the state’s south coast.

Just before 10pm yesterday (Thursday 4 August 2011), officers attached to Shoalhaven Highway Patrol were patrolling the Princes Highway, Falls Creek and spotted a black Holden Commodore sedan travelling north.

Police approached the vehicle and conducted a valid speed check before signalling for the vehicle to stop.

The Commodore slowed and pulled over to the side of the road.

Officers exited their vehicle and approached the Commodore and it allegedly accelerated away.

A pursuit was initiated and the car was followed to South Nowra – reaching speeds of up to 80km/h above the legal sign-posted limits. 

Police terminated the pursuit as it approached South Nowra due to the manner of driving.

About 11.50pm, police patrolling Central Avenue, South Nowra spotted the Commodore and pulled it over.

The driver – a 19-year-old Cardiff man – was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with Police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed (Skye’s Law), drive vehicle recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous; and drive while disqualified from holding a licence.

He has been granted bail and is due to appear in Nowra Local Court on Monday 29 August 2011.
