Fears held for missing teenager - Nowra

Police are appealing for the public’s help to find a teenager missing from his home on the south coast.

River Spencer, 17, was last seen at his Osborne Street house in Nowra by his family last night.

The boy’s father noticed he was missing this morning and reported the matter to police.

Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command have been searching the area for him today but so far have found not trace.

Both police and the teenager’s family hold concerns for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition.

River is described as being of Caucasian appearance, thin build, 168cm tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing black skinny leg jeans, a blue three-quarter length sleeve shirt with grey sleeves and a black trench coat.

Anyone who knows of River’s whereabouts is urged to Triple Zero or Shoalhaven Local Area Command.

Two further men charged over shooting - Nowra

Two further men have been charged after a shooting in Nowra in February.

About 2am, Sunday 26 February 2012, police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to a caravan park on Pleasant Way following reports of a shooting.

It is believed a 30-year-old man was inside his caravan when he was shot a number of times before his attacker fled the scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Shoalhaven Hospital suffering a gun shot wound to his body.

Detective’s yesterday (Thursday 31 May, 2012) arrested a 46-year-old Nowra man and today (Friday 1 June, 2012) arrested a 36-year man also from Nowra. The men were each charged with conceal serious indictable offence and shoot with intent to murder (accessory before the fact).

Both men have been granted bail and are expected to appear in Nowra Local Court on 25 June, 2012.

This is the third person to be arrested in relation to this matter. A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning (Thursday 31 May 2012), at a Tomerong address and charged with shoot with intent to murder and use unauthorised prohibited firearm.

Woman assaulted, car stolen - Nowra

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and her car stolen overnight in Nowra.

About 11pm yesterday (Monday 7 May 2012) a 54-year-old woman was seated in her Holden VT Commodore in Hood Avenue, North Nowra.

Police have been told a 43-year-old man, who is known to the woman, approached the car, opened the driver’s door and removed the keys from the ignition.

He allegedly dragged her out of the car and punched her to the face and head numerous times.

The man entered the car and began to do burnouts on the roadway, before driving away.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

A short time later, police located the Holden VT in Page Avenue, North Nowra.

ROBBERIES - Nowra & Ulladulla

About 9pm on Saturday 21 April, 2012 a 26 year old male from Mollymook was attaching a sign to a telegraph pole in Ocean Street, Mollymook. Whilst he was doing this he was approached by two males and spoken to and one of the males was armed with a carving knife. They demanded his wallet and phone. As a result the items were handed over, the wallet was containing a small amount of cash and the two males ran off in the direction of the cemetery. The males are described as in their early 20s, one was wearing a black hoodie and shorts, the other male had olive complexion and was wearing a T shirt and shorts, both were of medium build.

On Saturday 14 April, 2012 an 18 year old Wandandian male entered a bottle shop in Bomaderry and was seen to steal two bottles of alcohol being Rum and Bourbon and run away from the shop.

Police unearth $500,000 cannabis plantation - Nowra

Police are conducting investigations after unearthing a large cannabis plantation near Nowra this morning.

About 9am, Tuesday 27 March 2012, officers attached to the Nowra Drug Unit attended the Jerrawangala State Forrest where they located a large cannabis plantation.

Police will allege on Monday afternoon officers attached to the Police Airwing discovered the plantation during a fly over of the area.

Due to the remoteness of the location police had to be winched into the area before removing the crop of 257 cannabis plants.

The cannabis plants, with an estimated potential street value of $514,000, were seized and later destroyed.

Officers attached to the Nowra Drug Unit are continuing their investigations into the discovery.
