Two motor bike riders rescued from Morton National Park

Early morning on the 19th November 2011 two 35 year old males from Falls Creek and Farmborough commenced a trail bike ride in the Morton National Park at Yawal.  About 1pm one of the men made contacted with his wife, informing her they were lost and that one of the men was suffering from severe dehydration – falling in and out of consciousness.  Police were subsequently notified and commence a Land Rescue search of the Morton National Park west of Nowra.  About 5pm a Police Helicopter located the two men in the area known as Wombat Flat.  Both men were subsequently winch from bushland by an Ambulance Rescue Helicopter and conveyed to Shoalhaven District Hospital where they were treated for severe heat exhaustion / dehydration.

Police warn person who intend to venture into bushlandeither riding or on hikes, that they be sufficiently equipped to deal with the prevailing weather conditions, and be adequately supplied with the necessary clothing, food and water for such excursions. Our extensive bushland can be a dangerous place for those that are ill prepared and equipted.
