Friends In Deed

Julie's Journey relates tribulations of a woman who must first find herself, before she can fight for the rights of her son, a 10-year-old with "challenging behaviours," eventually diagnosed as autism. Julie is grieving the loss of her father and also the life she used to lead living on a farm, now struggling in the grip of drought. When Julie's son, Ben, is expelled from school, she has to fight for his right to go back to class and for her own dignity. Mary's Mission has the same characters, but is written from Mary's perspective. Her struggles to provide a life of dignity for her son who has severe disabilities, and whose health is deteriorating. It shows how, through faith, she manages to support family and friends.

Julie's Journey

What’s a Mom to Do?

Before you can fight effectively for someone else, you need to be able to stand up for yourself. In Julie’s Journey, we meet a mother who has done just that.

Even though moms may seem superhuman, they’re not! Julie’s Journey relates the problems faced by a mother who must fight for the rights of her 10-year-old son, Ben, whose challenging behaviour is eventually diagnosed as autism.

Julie’s Journey was written to let parents know that they’re not alone when they fight to support a child with a disability.

Julie is a single mom who has just lost her beloved father, and has a strained relationship with her mother. Feeling alone and grief stricken, Julie also faces problems on her farm, due to a long drought.

When Julie’s son is expelled from school, she must stand up to the system and find the strength to defend Ben’s rights for an education. She is also fighting for a bigger right: to uphold one’s dignity in the face of opposition. You will stand up and cheer for Julie’s Journey!
